Catching up

It seems that I am not very good at blogging, seeing as how my last blog was last summer! With six kids things tend to get pushed to the side, or I just plain forget about them. Well, let's catch up! Where to start.. hmm. We put Duncan back into his charter school this past November. I realized at the time it was best for his education. With the new baby and a toddler and preschooler I just didn't have the time we needed to for me to sit down and help him through a ot of his work. He loves being back though. He missed his friends and some of the things his school offers. Logan was skipped a grade, so he is in 5th grade this year. And though I am not perfectly happy with his teacher, I think I have finally decided to try to let things go ( now that there is only a month and a half left of school.) Ian has been put into the third grade reading and spelling group! And Duncan and Logan were invited to the JrNYLC Junior National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, DC. Logan was also nominated for the NYSP, National Young Scholars Program at Wake Forrest. However, because of finances, neither of them will be attending. And I think they are ok with that. There is always next year. Speaking of next year the boys will be attending a new school. P.A.L.S. Palmetto Academy of Learning and Success. It is a NEW Charter School and the Principal Courtney Fancher is amazing, as a principal, teacher, mother and friend. I am excited to have my children back under her care and I know they will receive the education they deserve in her school.
Kyan is excited to start school next year. He turned 5 in November and has been talking about it ever since. He is doing really well in speech therapy. He's been in almost a year now.
Teagan Turned three in March and WOW is he ever a three year old! Somedays I don't even know what to do with him. But he is so sweet, so loving. Amazing child.
Marisa Jo will be one year old next month and I just can't believe it. She is my heart. Don't get me wrong, when I talk about my daughter. I love all my children the same. I love them all more than I love my own life, but there is something special between a mother and daughter. And I never thought I would have one of those. She is almost 20 lbs now too! Growing fast. But she is still a little small for her age. I love dressing her up and she NEVER leaves the house without a bow, or hat, or kerchief or something. She is starting to walk now too. I give her a week before she is walking across the entire room!.
George was working for a man, landscaping but the work started to become unsteady in November and has just fallen through since then. He works when he can find it, and though he's put in countless applications, the right door just hasn't opened yet. Not that he's closing any. He works anytime he can find work. Though, as a blessing through this storm, he has been able to really bond with Marisa Jo in a way he never would have been able to had he been working a full time job.
My parents moved in with us last September, both to help them out and to help us out. My dad recently went through having a stint put into his heart, or.. artery near his heart. He is doing better physically. Mom has been having more good days than bad here lately and it is good to see. Though we are all anxious for George to find full time employment so they can move out. They love being here with the kids and all, but they are getting to the age where they just can't handle all the kids around all the time.
I will be posting some new pictures as I can. And hopefully I will get better about posting on here in general!

She's number.. What??!!??!!

Six, yes. She is number six and yes, she has five older brothers.
It's funny the responses I get from people when I answer their questions. The one I get most often is... "Are all of these yours?" I just want to say.. "No, I often take the neighborhood kids grocery shopping". I often just smile and nod, and say"Yes, they are all ours."

To be honest I love showing off our baby girl. She is so precious and so sweet. I get stopped constantly and asked questions about her. She is still tiny, though I do have to boast, she has gained weight!!! She was 6lbs and 8 oz yesterday! Up from 5 lbs 6 oz. So we are doing great nursing. She was not really a preemie. She was born at 37 weeks, but people assume she was.
I get asked, "How do you do it? I barely handle one." Or.. "Better you than me" or .. "Wow, are you crazy?" Or "did you get fixed? Not that the last one is anyone's business but they all seem to get a kick out of me answer.. "I had my tubes tied five minutes after she was born."

I do wonder why total strangers ask me very personal questions, and yet for some reason, I answer them. Hm... anyway, Marisa is doing great, the boys..a re good and Teagan;'s hair will grow back out. God has helped us through these last few weeks. Without His love, His patience, His guidance, His mercy and His grace.. I don't know where we would be!

What happens when you put a toddler in a room alone with Scissors?

Summer is here and "I'm bored!"

Well summer is officially here and my boys have been out of school for a week and are already bored. We have watched the Cheetah Girls, all three movies, Phenias and Ferb, Zack and Cody and others til I am sick of Disney Channel!
Duncan has already spent time at Nana and Paw's and Ian goes tonight for a day or two. Logan has been as well. And still, they are bored. The next day George has off, we have to take them to the beach or the pool or something. If not for their sanity then for mine. I do believe in the next week or two we are eihter going to have to purchase a pool or season passes to the water park. It's just too awful hot at the Beach not to have access to water at all times, even when we can't go down to the ocean.
We have hundreds of books and thousands of dollars in toys, two computers, a video game system, two Nintendo DSes and still.. they are bored. I bet if I had a couple of plain cardboard boxes they would be happy as little clams!

My first blog

OK so I decided to start a blog, why you ask? Because there are days that I need to write down, just in case I forget about them later. Those good days or those bad days that will seem funny at a later date. So I guess I will start by intoducing myself. I am Shona. I am married to George, and have been for the last ten and a half years. We have six children. Duncan is ten, Logan is nine, Ian is seven, Kyan is four, Teagan is two and Marisa Jo is one month old today.
Yes, you read that right. We have five little boys and one little girl.
I am a stay at home mom, and have been for seven years. We live at the beach and LOVE it here. South Carolina is so warm, sometimes too warm :). I love my job...most days. I am very active in my church, as is my husband. I am a part of our church's worship through movement or Interpretive worship team. I am also a part of the Women's ministry when I have the time.
I am thirty five and for the most part I don't feel over twenty five, though there are days I feel eighty five.
George is fourty-one, a Mason ( when he works.) Currently out of work, but doing odd jobs here and there. He is also an active member in our church and a part of the Men's Ministry.
We both work with the children's ministry as well. George works in the church's nursery every third Sunday and hopes to rejoin the choir before long.
Duncan is an amazing kid, he is virtual schooled, which is kind of like homeschooling but it is all done online. He is a gifted and talented student and one of my best friends (when I can be his friend and not just his mom). He is wise beyond his years and has a heart of gold. He loves Pokemon and NCIS ( when he's allowed to watch it).
Logan is also an amazing kid. He is so bright and such a joy. He loves learning and craves new books all the time. I have to brag a little here. he took the CAT test recently and out of over 300 questions he only missed 6. So to say he is a G&T child.. is redundant :) He is currently enrolled in a charter school, however we may be bringing him home for next year. He has a wonderful heart and is gernerous to a fault.
Ian is my amazing little second grader, or will be next fall. He too is G&T. He is so sweet and so kind and so loving. He is your typical middle child, but we try not to let him be. He loves to play and loves to imgaine things. Ian likes to read and color.
Kyan is .. well.. Kyan is different. He is so precious. He is precocious as well. He is always trying to be the center of attention. He likes to be on the computer and color. He loves to watch TV and thinks the sun rises and set in both Duncan and Marisa.
Teagan is my amazing little two year old. He is into everything, I mean if he's not into it it's not worth getting into. He couldn't hear very well before we got tubes in his ears this past january and now his vocabulary has exploded! He is talking so much and he is so cute.
Marisa Jo is a wonderful baby girl. She is one month old today and is a doll. She is spoiled rotten already. She is daddy's princess, my little miracle and the boys' angel. And she is our last child.

ok that is about all I have the time for at the moment.
